What Fabrics to Use and a Giveaway Winner!

When making a fused art quilt, your fabric choices can make a difference between a successful quilt and a disaster. (Ask me how I know!) Here are a few tips:

  • Choose fabrics with no finish like 100% cotton hand-dyed and batik fabrics for raw edge fusing. The color in these fabrics goes through the cloth. (Printed fabrics with a white back will show a white edge around each element when fused and cut.)
  • Select fabrics with a high thread count. They fray less when cut.
  • Wash your fabric to remove any starch or sizing before fusing. Do not use fabric softener.
