Accidental Artist Class Kit

Thank you for signing up for the Accident Artist class! When you design quilts as you go, you embrace serendipity and become an “accidental artist.” In this class, you’ll learn several methods of creating fused quilt designs in an improvisational manner. It all begins with a heap of pre-fused fabric scraps from Laura’s colorful stash. These scraps trigger design ideas and help you create and learn as you go. It’s fun to design on the fly!

Accidental Artist Class Kit

  • Chicago School of Fusing Rules of Etiquette Booklet
  • 1/4 yard hand-dyed Rainbow Medium fabric from Artfabrik
  • 1/2 yard hand-dyed Rainbow Rich fabric from Artfabrik
  • A sampler of hand-dyed threads from Artfabrik
  • Colorful pre-fused fabric scraps from Laura’s stash

Tools and Supplies You Need to Complete the Project

  • 2 yards of regular weight Wonder-Under fusible web (paper backed #805). Please DO NOT USE Heat ‘n Bond or Steam a Seam
  • 1 yard of parchment paper
  • Sharp small scissors
  • Paper scissors
  • Rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
  • Specialty rotary cutter blades, like pinking, wavy, or scallop (optional)
  • Hand embroidery needles in sizes 3 and 5
  • Batting, 1 piece measuring about 18″ x 18″ (wool is recommended)
  • Quilt backing fabric, 1 piece measuring about 18” x 18″
  • Iron and ironing surface
  • Sewing machine to bind the quilt
  • Black Sharpie marker (optional)
  • Thread Magic thread conditioner (optional)
  • Thimble (optional)
  • Tweezers (optional)
