Woodcut Quilts

Description:
Adapt the graphic impact of woodcuts to quilt making. Create beautiful pictorial woodcut-inspired quilts by free cutting fused fabrics in intricate shapes and ironing them on black fabric. Learn free cutting, pattern transfer and the design secrets of the woodcut quilt. This type of art quilt construction is painstaking and so only one small quilt can be completed in one day. But the results are worth it! A kit provides appropriate fabrics and a hand out. (No sewing machine needed.) $20 Kit Fee.

Supplies Participants Should Bring:
- 2 yards of regular weight Wonder-Under fusible web. Please DO NOT BRING HEAT 'N BOND or STEAM A SEAM.
- 1 piece of pre-washed black cotton fabric measuring about 14" x 14"
- Small sharp scissors like 5" knife blade scissors
- Paper scissors
- Rotary cutters, mat and ruler
- Specialty rotary blades, such as Pinking, Wavy or Scallop
- Batting, 1 piece measuring about 14" x 14". Hobbs Heirloom Cotton Batting 80/20 recommended
- Quilt backing fabric, 1 piece measuring about 14” x 14"
- Fine Point or Ultra Fine Point black Sharpie marker or #2 lead pencil

- Teflon pressing sheet (optional)
- Iron and ironing surface (may be shared with other class members)
- Small plastic bag for fabric scraps
- Tweezers (optional)


$20 Kit Fee: Includes hand out and hand-dyed fabrics and threads.
