Guest Artist: Wool Stitchery

sarahwoolLast fall was the debut of my new class: Improvisational Hand Embroidery on Wool.  And with delight, I am happy to show you this piece by Sarah. Sarah’s hand embroidery on wool began with a simple sketch she made it the class that she transferred to the fabric. Then she filled in the shapes with gorgeous hand work. Thanks for sharing your art work with us Sarah!

  1. What is the actual size of this piece? I really like the quilting stitches surrounding the motif. Great color scheme.

    • The class kit provides a piece of wool measuring about 6″ x 7″. They had a variety of colors and weights of wool from which to choose. This deep purple really shows off Sarah’s beautiful stitchery.

  2. The colors are awesome…I agree the dark purple is the perfect stage for the embroidery. Did she really couch pink yarn with an orange loose blanket stitch? How cool is that! Love everything about it!
