French Knots and a Give-Away Winner

raresongbird4What is it about the French Knot that makes us so happy? Is it that strong hit of color? Or the way the thread lifts off the fabric to greet you? French Knots are truly a highlight of the embroidery world!

raresongbird5In the Rare Songbird project from Joyful Stitching, the French Knot decorates the bird’s tail, wing, and adds a glint to his eye. Want to add a glint to your eye? Here’s how to make the French Knot.

  1. Congratulations to Nark from Arkansas on winning the book. These are wonderful projects that Laura has given us and I can’t wait to finish my current project to start on one. I have gotten to the point where I try to finish each project before starting a new one because I have so many UFO’s already that need finishing.

  2. I like French knots because they are so simple and solitary but add a punch of color and or texture in often unexpexted ways. Plus they are just plain, well, JOYFUL!
