Guest Artists: With a Danish Twist

Else and friend stitching in Denmark.
Meet my friend Else. I met Else 3  years ago in Houston when she received her certificate in Fusology in my class. No doubt a degree she shall cherish forever!

Adapting to a New House, Kinda

Birdhouse Garden by Laura Wasilowski.

It is with deep regret that I say goodbye to this quilt, Birdhouse Garden. But it is in a better place now. A fellow quilt maker cheerfully purchased it for her home. Yeah fellow quilter!

Forest Home by Laura Wasilowski from Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts.

The Birdhouse Garden quilt was made with this quilt, Forest Home, in mind. Do you recognize the similarity? Adapting the Forest Home house pattern found in Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts, I stuck the houses on a stick and turned them into, you guessed it, bird houses!

The patterns in the book are really versatile and I encourage you to use them to create your own designs too. And how will you get Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts for you or a friend? Please leave a comment on the blog today and you may be the lucky winner of a copy!

First Day to Win Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts!

Gardener’s Cottage by Laura Wasilowski for Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts.

It’s a party today on the Artfabrik blog as we celebrate the one year anniversary of my book, Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts! You may recognize this quilt, the Gardener’s Cottage, from the cover of the book. It’s probably the most detailed quilt in the book but also one of the most rewarding to make.

Gardener’s Cottage #2, a variation on a theme.

It was so much fun making the first one, I decided to make another cottage cleverly called Gardener’s Cottage #2. I suspect they are in the same community and may even know each other.

Detail of hand stitching on the cleverly named, Gardener’s Cottage #2.

So are you feeling lucky? Because today I am giving away a copy of Fanciful Stitches, Colorful Quilts to an Artfabrik blog reader. Please leave a comment today and the book may be yours to keep or give to a friend!
